IMF brings positive decision on three-year agreement with SCG


The Board of Directors of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) last night brought a positive decision on concluding its three-year arrangement with Serbia-Montenegro which is worth $937 million, allowing a debt of $700 million to be written off.

Serbian Minister of Finance Mladjan Dinkic said today that the largest Austrian insurance company Wiener Stadtische is interested in the privatization of the Novi Sad insurance company DDOR. Great interest of foreign investors in Serbia


Serbian Minister of Finance Mladjan Dinkic said today that from an economic point of view there are no obstacles preventing Serbia from becoming a member of the European Union by 2012. Participating in the 11th economic forum of central and eastern Europe organized in Vienna by the Euromoney magazine that specialises in finances, Dinkic said that the political issues that remain to be solved are the future of the state union and the status of Kosovo-Metohija, but that from an economic point of view there are no obstacles blocking Serbia's path towards Europe.

Agricultural budget increasing in the next year


The agricultural budget for next year will be better because the state will give favourable loans to agricultural producers, Serbian Minister of Finance Mladjan Dinkic said today. During a visit to the estate of Janko Medvedja, a farmer from Begac near Futog, Dinkic recalled that this year's agricultural budget was 19 billion dinars, and that almost 4 billion dinars was set aside for loans to more than 25,000 producers.
