August 16 – Deadline for the third installment of property tax


The Republic of Serbia Tax Administration has informed the citizens and taxpayers that August 16 is the deadline to pay the third installment of property tax. The payment forms for the third quarter of property tax have been distributed on time and citizens can expect them delivered to their home address. The remaining amount of property tax for 2004 is due to be paid before November 15, 2004.

Education of taxpayers on the VAT law


Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in cooperation with Serbian Tax Administration, has announced the organising of free education for taxpayers on the Law on Value Added Tax (VAT), which is to come into force on January 01, 2005.

Law on abolishing tax on salaries and wages fund comes into force


The Serbian Ministry of Finance stated that the Law on abolishing a 3.5 percent tax on the salaries and wages fund will come into force today, and thus relieve the economy of more than 7 billion dinars by the end of the year.

Russia, Serbia-Montenegro sign debt clearance protocol


A protocol on yesterday’s agreement between the Russian, Serbian, and Montenegrin finance ministers, Alexei Kudrin, Mladjan Dinkic, and Igor Luksic respectively, concerning the clearance of mutual debts from the times of the former Yugoslavia and Soviet Union and expanding business cooperation between the two countries was signed in Moscow earlier today.

Serbia, Russia reach debt clearance agreement


Serbia’s and Russia’s finance ministries reached a debt clearance agreement today, settling all mutual claims between the two countries, said Serbian Finance Minister Mladjan Dinkic, and added that he will sign a memorandum with Russian Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin in Moscow tomorrow.

Memorandum of understanding on organisation of EBRD 14th Annual Meeting signed in Belgrade

Two crucial system laws presented


The Finance Minister Mr. Mladjan Dinkic presented today, at a press conference The Draft of the Law on amendments to the Law on corporate income tax and the Draft of the Law on value added tax. “Both laws are crucial system laws rounding off the set of fiscal laws”, Minister Dinkic pointed out.

Tax Administration has completed a repeated first instance procedure initiated against Mobtel


On Friday, May 21, the Tax Administration has completed a repeated first instance procedure initiated against Mobtel mobile operator company, as a contract guarantor for the debt of the Astra Bank on account of the one-off tax on extra profit. On the basis of the opinion of the Supreme Court of Serbia expressed in the decision dating from October 9, 2003, and pursuant to Articles 3, 34, 147 and 160 of the Law on tax procedure and fiscal administration and pursuant to Articles 192, 261, and 264 of the Law on general administrative procedure, a decision was issued ordering Mobtel mobile operator company to settle set liability within 15 days from the day of reception of the decision, under the threat of enforcement collection.

Money collected from excise tax to be used for unemployment allowances and farmers’ pensions


The Minster of Finance in the Government of the Republic of Serbia Mr. Mladjan Dinkic, on occasion of adopting a set of financial laws, at the yesterday’s session of the Serbian Parliament, said that the adopted amendments to the Excise Tax Law would bring the Serbian budget another 3.5 billion Dinars, which would be used for accelerated payment of unemployment allowances and farmers’ pensions.

Ten new taxpayers’ centers opened


Ten new Taxpayers’ services will begin to operate between May 19 and 27, 2004 in branch offices across Serbia, a press conference was told today, at Branch Office Novi Beograd 1. The new services are the continuation of the project dating from November 2003, when four such services were opened as pilot points at Regional centers (Belgrade, Novi Sad, Nis, and Kragujevac).

The second group of tax payers to introduce fiscal cash registers before May 31


The Ministry of Finance has prepared the draft of the new law on “fiscalisation”, which should enter the parliament procedure at the beginning of June. “This law, following the example of the countries that have completed fiscalisation, exempts the taxi drivers, tourist agencies, lawyers offices, postal services, etc, from the obligation to introduce fiscal cash register”, said Vladimir Ilic, Director of the Tax Administration.

Dinkic attends regional meeting in Slovenia


Serbian Minister of Finance Mladjan Dinkic, who is attending a regional meeting of ministers of finance and national bank governors at Brdo near Kranj, Slovenia, said that participants in the meeting agreed to boost regional cooperation, establish free trade among non-EU member states and increase investment in order to improve economic development.

Agreement on road modernisation loan signed with EIB


Director of the Serbian Treasury Vesna Dzinic signed in Luxembourg today, on behalf of Minister of Finance Mladjan Dinkic, an agreement between the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the Serbian government on a €120 million loan to build the E75 motorway between Belgrade and Novi Sad.
