Serbian Minister of Finance Mladjan Dinkic and Director of KfW office in Belgrade Elke Hellstern signed today an Agreement on a debt write-off between the Republic of Serbia and this German financial organisation. Under the agreement, KfW will write off Serbia's €25 million debt to Germany, as a creditor of the Paris Club of creditors in exchange for €5.5 million in investment.

State Secretary at the Serbian Ministry of Finance Vladimir Ilic said that in 21 days from the enforcement of law amendments that introduced tax reliefs for those who employ trainees younger than 30 and older than 45, as well as invalids, 366 persons from the given categories have been employed. Ilic said at a press conference that if that tendency continues, between 500 and 600 persons from these categories will be employed every month. He specified that in 21 days, 124 trainees have been employed, 170 persons below 30 years of age, 68 persons older than 45, and four invalids.

The Serbian Ministry of Finance stated that according to its estimates, the September inflation will be 0.2% which is the lowest monthly inflation rate in the past nine years The statement adds that restrictive measures of the National Bank of Serbia's monetary policy and the finance ministry's tight budget policy have caused this year's total inflation rate to decrease to 6.1% in the first nine months. Having in mind this positive trend, the Ministry of Finance expects the total 2006 inflation rate to be below the projected values, adds the statement. .

Serbian Minister of Finance Mladjan Dinkic and Minister of Capital Investment Velimir Ilic laid today in Nis a cornerstone for 79 apartments for civil servants, which marks the beginning of the realisation of the National Investment Plan in the field of housing construction. Dinkic said that this is the first construction site in Serbia where apartments will be built with the funds from the National Investment Plan, which envisages that €150 million be invested in that field by the end of the year.

Serbian Minister of Finance Mladjan Dinkic said that a total of 586 million dinars will be set aside from the budget for the organisation of the referendum for the Serbian new constitution. Dinkic told a press conference that of that sum, 219 million will be allocated for workers in charge of the organisation of the referendum. According to Dinkic parliamentary parties will distribute 150 million dinars according to proportional representation in parliament while the government’s Office of Media Relations will receive 125 million dinars for the media campaign.

Serbian Minister of Finance Mladjan Dinkic said today that Serbia's advancement by 24 places in the World Bank's rank order means that its global reputation is improving, which is a result of reforms carried out in the previous year. Speaking about Serbia's advancement from last year's 92nd to 68th place in the rank order of business conditions, Dinkic told Beta news agency that further simplification of administrative procedures will take place and reiterated that the time needed to obtain all permits necessary has been reduced to six-seven days and that the customs procedure has been shortened by introducing electronic bills of entry.

Norwegian Telenor today officially took over Mobi 63, after signing a €1.513 billion contract in late July. Telenor thus acquired the Serbian telecommunication company as well as the second telecom licence for Serbia. Dinkic told a press conference following the session that the total investment is worth €900 million, and the Greek government will help with €100 million through the Hellenic Plan for the Economic Reconstruction of the Balkans, and €800 million will be allocated from funds for the National Investment Plan.
