Serbian Minister of Finance Mladjan Dinkic and Director of Serbian railways company Milanko Sarancic signed today with representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) a loan agreement worth €60 million for the purchase of 1,100 wagons. Dinkic said in a press conference that this is a big day for Serbian railways and announced that a $80 million loan agreement for rehabilitation of the rail network on Corridor 10 will be signed with the European Investment Bank (EIB).

Serbian Minister of Finance Mladjan Dinkic said today during his visit to Dublin that Serbia could learn a lot from Ireland in attracting foreign investment. In a statement to the news agency Beta, Dinkic said that at the meeting with representatives of the Irish Ministry of Finance it was agreed upon that in order to make economic progress Serbia needs political consensus on the future of the country, as well as a good legal system and foreign direct investment.

After the talks, Dinkic expressed expectation that the governments of Serbia and Montenegro will verify today’s agreement next week. He said that Serbia will inherit membership in all international financial institutions with the existing quota and noted that Montenegro will get a 5.85% quota.

Greece is ready to provide diplomatic support to the Serbian government in an effort to convince creditors of the Paris club to write off $1 billion debt, Serbian Minister of Finance Mladjan Dinkic said today during his official visit in Greece. Dinkic met today with Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs Dora Bakoyannis and Minister of Finance and Economy George Alogoskoufis. Dinkic presented Belgrade’s official initiative that Serbia will formally send to creditors of the Paris club in a month’s time. The initiative has the backing of Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica and Serbian President Boris Tadic.
