Minister Cvetkovic’s interview to Tanjug - Maintaining macroeconomic stability, November 14, 2007

Minister of Finance Mirko Cvetkovic, in the interview to the Tanjug, after adoption of Draft 2008 Budget Law, pointed out the need of maintaining macroeconomic stability in the country and warned that any disturbance in the stability will be manifested in the inflation growth and economic system destabilization.

Not denying the fact that salaries in Serbia are low, Cvetkovic said for the national news agency, that the Ministry of Finance and the Government of the Republic of Serbia “are not making the money”, nor are they “at their own will approving funds to ones and not to the others”, but allocate joint funds of all citizens of Serbia.

Minister has reminded of unpleasant high inflation and economic crises experience from 10, 15 years ago.

“For that reason I am making an appeal to everyone to grasp the importance of the moment and significance of the fact that we are all on the same ship and that we have to lead that ship in the right direction and at highest speed possible”, referred Minister of Finance to everybody who is requesting salary increase.

He especially pointed out the fact that 2008 Draft Budget represents the balance between developmental and public spending restriction component.
